I came back from a short break in Woolacombe, North Devon, with my family yesterday. Was it a holiday? Not by traditional definitions. It wasn’t hot (it was bitingly cold); it wasn’t sunny (it was primarily grey with bouts of highly aggressive rain); and it wasn’t relaxing (it was exhausting walking round, up and down those seemingly endless, rocky cliff tops). But it was darkly, ruggedly beautiful.
