Two years together

Last weekend was my two-year anniversary with my boyfriend. That might not sound like that long, but during that time we have:

At Rough Trade East, January 2011

  • Played out a secret romance around our university’s lecture rooms
  • Unintentionally and indecently outed ourselves as a couple in the kitchen of a guy we didn’t know
  • Stayed in a dodgy Arabian-themed London hotel with a badly leaking shower
  • Adopted a dinosaur
  • Played zombies in a horror movie documentary filmed in his basement
  • Moved down to London and in together within 11 months of first meeting
  • Graduated together
  • Cooked an entire Christmas dinner for ourselves
  • Met the other’s Grandma’s friends, as well as relatives never met by either of us before
  • Eaten fish and chips on Brighton beach
  • Threw dinosaur son a birthday party
  • Fought a bloody multiple-month war with a pack of house mice
  • Been in the studio audience for Mock the Week, Fast and Loose, Harry Hill’s TV Burp, Pointless, 10 o’ Clock Live and The Apprentice: You’re Fired
  • Sampled (almost) every park and market in London
  • Been crushed at several rowdy gigs, including Weezer, Patrick Wolf and Flogging Molly
  • Dressed up as Wayne and Garth of Wayne’s World
  • Lived it up in a big six-bed farmhouse on Gozo, Malta
  • Almost drowned (my fault)
  • Transported all our worldly goods across London to a new flat, via a very, very tightly packed taxi
On the day of our second anniversary, we had breakfast in bed, cruised down the Thames, came across the Coca Cola truck and had the most romantic meal ever here, at our beloved second flat. I wouldn’t change the last two years for the world, and I know there’s so much more to come. Thank you gorgeous.
