Living in Scotland, I sometimes have to remind myself of all the beauty that’s just on my doorstep, no flying required! This chilly weekend in late October we went to The Hermitage in Perthshire – known as ‘Big Tree Country’ – to marvel at the autumn leaves. I think we missed ‘peak leaf’ by a week but the colours were still stunning; meanwhile the forest itself, with its cascading river, tumbled rocks and hidden nooks, is like something out of a fairytale.
